The European wheel - also known as the Single Zero roulette or sometimes French Roulette is very similar to the American wheel.
The European wheel has only a single zero while the American one has a single zero and a double zero, and that is main difference between them.
The European table is more beautiful in symmetry while the American table is more practical during play because the red/black and odd/even are placed right next to each other, and the first18/last18 betting spots are placed right next to the single numbers.
The European single zero offers the player better odds than the American wheel with it’s single and double zero.
American roulette wheel is divided into 38 numbered slots:numbers 0 to 36 and 00. The betting layout consists of every individual number as well as a host of "outside" or combinations of numbers. After the players make their bets the dealer spins the wheel and a ball and after several seconds the ball will land in one of the numbered slots.

Roulette is a wheel game. The wheel of the roulette is spinned on an axis which is placed in a bowl. The wheel is divided into slots: American roulette wheel into 38, European - into 37.The numbers can be black or red. The 0 and 00 are considered green.8 players can participate the game at the same time. The rules suggest that the croupier spins the wheel of roulette in one direction and then rolls the ball around the edge of the wheel in the opposite direction. When the ball stops and falls at one of the slots the croupier announces the winners. You are to guess the number of the slot in which the ball will stop and to make the right bet. When you first sit down at a roulette table, you'll need to buy chips from the croupier, and roulette chips are almost always different from all other chips in the casino. Each player is assigned his own color of chips so that the croupier knows who to pay off at the end of each spin. Players can make their bets until the croupier announces, "No more bets."After the ball had stopped, the croupier puts a marker on top of the winning number on the table. If there are bets on that number, the marker is placed on top of the chips. The croupier sweeps off the table all losing bets and pays off the winning bets.
In some casinos there exist some special rules.

In Prison/En prison
When the ball falls on zero, red/black, odd/even and first half/last half bets will not be collected by the croupier - instead they will have to stay on the table - in other words they are in prison. The players can win their original bet back during the next spin;if their bet wins they get their original bets back without additional gain. If it's zero again the bets remain in prison one more time and so on. As this special rule reduced the casinos edge, it's greatly to the advantage for the players.

La Partage
When the ball falls on zero, red/black, odd/even and first half/last half bets will not be fully collected by the croupier. The croupier will collect only a half of player's bets and will return the rest to the players. As well as the In Prison rule, the La Partage rule also reduces the casinos edge to only 1.35%.

There are 36 numbers, which are divided among red or black pockets on the Roulette wheel. The pocket is the container that a ball may come to rest in. The Roulette wheel also has on or two green pockets. The green pockets has numbers 0 and 00 or only 00, depending on the kind of Roulette.
The Roulette wheel is spun by the dealer in the counter clockwise direction and then he releases a plastic ball along the top of the wheel’s cavity. The wheel loses speed and as a result the ball comes down from the track, bounces a little and then lands in one of the pockets.

» Do you believe that a person can sell everything he has and put all his money on a single Roulette spin. The very thought of it might probably fills you with equal measures of excitement and fear – the very same feelings experienced by 32 year-old Ashley Revell, from London, when he did the unthinkable! Having sold everything he had Revell came to one of the Las Vegas casinos with $132,000 with an intention to place all his money on Red. Watched by a few good friends and family, all with their hearts in their mouths, the incredible happened when the roulette ball stuck on Red, netting a staggering $270,600! Revell himself admitted that seconds before placing all his money on red, he thought about placing it on black. The winner himself says that it was the most stupid and risky think he had ever done, but here the luck helped him.
